Panelist Bios:
Dana Hankins, Redhead Productions
Producer Dana Satler Hankins pursues unique and compelling projects for theatrical, television, documentary, and commercial production. Her most recent indie film, UNDER THE BLOOD-RED SUN, is adapted from Graham Salisbury’s award-winning young-adult novel and has won a number of family film festival awards. CHIEF, a short film Hankins produced in 2008, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
Hankins theatrical credits include Hollywood features THE TEMPEST, STAKEOUT, BIRD ON A WIRE, and SHORT CIRCUIT, as well as the critically acclaimed independent release, PICTURE BRIDE. Her documentary credits include projects for National Geographic Television, Discovery, and the History Channel.
Debra M. Simon, Film, Reality TV, Documentary and Multimedia Producer & Writer
DEBRA M SIMON is an award-winning Film, Reality TV, Documentary and Multimedia Producer & Writer. Currently Debra is serving as Production Manager for Hacking Your Mind, a 4-part prime time documentary series for PBS, based at OPB.
She has worked on documentaries and films for national distribution. Some of the documentaries she has produced include Guy’s N’ Divas: Battle Of The High School Musicals with Spitfire Pictures for Lionsgate and Showtime, the critically acclaimed feature documentary Beyond The Mat for Imagine Films/Universal, On The Inside: America’s Military Academies, a 3-hour special for The Discovery Channel, and The Children Are Watching, a documentary for PBS. She also supervised Lost Dinosaurs of Egypt I & II & Solar Sails for A&E & Cosmos Studios.
She has received the Worldfest Platinum Award for the screenplay Season Of The Witch, Webby Awards for producing website/design/graphics, Kodak’s Medallion of Excellence in Photography, Gold Key Awards in photographic endeavors, and Telly Awards in art/culture for film/video/marketing/internet. In addition, Beyond the Mat, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary.
